Congress Reforms HIV Testing for Veterans

Congress has approved legislation to repeal the federal law requiring the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to utilize an outdated HIV testing protocol, the department announced Monday. The legislation includes a freestanding bill originally introduced by Rep. Michael Doyle, a Pennsylvania Democrat, that would modernize the HIV antibody testing policies of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Governor Schwarzenegger Vetoes Harvey Milk Day

While we can't wait for Gus Van Sant's new biopic about gay rights legend Harvey Milk starring Sean Penn and Out cover boy James Franco, apparently not everyone shares our excitement. This week, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill which would have made Milk's birthday a state-wide 'day of significance.' Milk was the United States first openly gay man to hold a public office.

According to Ben Smith’s Blog at Politico.com, the Obama campaign has purchased a satellite channel that will run ads and other content about Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on a loop around the clock. Located at Channel 73 on the Dish Network, The Obama Channel debuted this week and is being paid for the Obama campaign in an effort to reach voters nationwide.

Melissa Etheridge to Legally Wed Tammy Lynn Michaels
